Course Description: Complementary Swedish for Children and Youth (Ages 6-18)

Welcome to our complementary Swedish course, specifically designed for children and youth between the ages of 6 and 18. This course is ideal for students who need extra support in Swedish, whether they are beginners or more advanced learners.

Structure: The instruction is divided into four levels to meet each student's language needs. The groups are organized by age and language proficiency, providing a safe and nurturing environment for each student to grow, whether their goal is to improve grammar, expand vocabulary, or enhance reading and writing skills.

We follow the Swedish curriculum for the subject of Swedish and complementary Swedish, ensuring that the content of the instruction aligns with national goals and requirements. This gives students confidence that they are developing their language skills according to the standards necessary to succeed within the Swedish school system.

Levels and Age Groupings:

Level 1 – Beginner (Ages 6-9):
Focus: The basics of the Swedish language. Students learn the alphabet, basic vocabulary, simple phrases, and how to form simple sentences. The lessons are interactive and playful, incorporating games, pictures, and music to make learning fun and engaging.

Level 2 – Continuing (Ages 10-12):
Focus: Building on the basics and adding more complex sentences, vocabulary, and grammar. Students develop their ability to read simple texts, write short stories, and use more advanced phrases in everyday conversations.

Level 3 – Intermediate (Ages 13-15):
Focus: Students deepen their grammatical understanding and broaden their vocabulary. They practice reading and analyzing more complex texts and writing longer, more structured compositions. Discussions on everyday topics and social issues encourage students to actively use the language.

Level 4 – Advanced (Ages 16-18):
Focus: For older students with a strong foundation in Swedish, we refine their language skills to a higher academic level. The course includes reading and analyzing more advanced texts, such as literature and scientific articles. Students practice writing argumentative texts, giving presentations, and participating in discussions on current issues.
